Alongside being personally involved in discipling children aged 0\u201311, this person will also equip, guide, and encourage our team of volunteers who serve faithfully in this vital area of church life.<\/p>\n<p>Our purpose at City Hope is to love and serve God, our local community, and the wider world. We are a diverse family of believers who, empowered by the Holy Spirit, want to proclaim the good news of Jesus and shape our lives around His teaching.<\/p>\n<p>We are blessed with many children in our congregation, and they play a central role in our vision as a church. This position offers an exciting opportunity to strengthen and grow our children\u2019s ministry.<\/p>\n<p>The successful candidate will be someone who has personally experienced God\u2019s transforming presence and is passionate about helping a new generation\u2014both from within our church family and beyond\u2014to encounter Jesus and grow in their faith.<\/p>\n<h3>About City Hope<\/h3>\n<p>City Hope is a vibrant, multi-ethnic church in the heart of Bermondsey. Around 250 people gather with us each Sunday, and roughly 60 of these are children under 12.<\/p>\n<p>Children\u2019s work has always been at the heart of our mission. In the early 1900s, we ran a \u201cragged school\u201d for children without access to education. Over the years, we have run Boys\u2019 and Girls\u2019 Brigades for young people in our area, and more recently Kids\u2019 Clubs that attracted children from Bermondsey, Rotherhithe, Peckham, and Walworth. The successful candidate will either already be, or be willing to become, an active member of City Hope Church. Appointment is subject to an Enhanced DBS check.\u00a0<\/p>\n<h3>Faith and Values (Essential)<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>A committed follower of Jesus Christ, servant-hearted, and a genuine team player.<\/li>\n<li>Passionate about seeing children grow as disciples of Jesus.<\/li>\n<li>Loves creating spaces where children feel welcome, joyful, and able to meet with God.<\/li>\n<li>A heart for reaching children and families beyond the church, welcoming them into the church community<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Experience (Essential)<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Experience discipling and teaching children aged 0\u201311 (paid or voluntary) in a church or Christian setting.<\/li>\n<li>Experience planning and delivering children\u2019s or family events.<\/li>\n<li>Experience leading and coordinating volunteer teams.<\/li>\n<li>Experience of supporting children with additional needs, or willingness to train in this area.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Skills (Essential)<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Strong organisational and time management skills.<\/li>\n<li>Excellent communicator.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Desirable<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Familiarity with ChurchSuite or similar church database tools.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to help children engage with prayer and worship.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Job Purpose<\/h3>\n<p>To champion City Hope\u2019s vision for intergenerational worship by leading and developing the discipleship of children aged 0\u201311. This role requires vision for nurturing children\u2019s ongoing spiritual growth and imagination to help us reach children beyond the church.\u00a0<\/p>\n<h3>Key Responsibilities<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Inspire, encourage, and support children aged 0\u201311 as they begin a lifelong journey of faith in Jesus.<\/li>\n<li>Lead the children\u2019s ministry with creativity, energy, and joy, ensuring every child feels welcomed and valued.<\/li>\n<li>Coordinate Sunday and midweek children\u2019s groups, developing teaching plans and resources in partnership with volunteers.<\/li>\n<li>Recruit, encourage, and manage volunteers, including rota planning and team meetings.<\/li>\n<li>Maintain accurate records of children and families through ChurchSuite, including consent and attendance.<\/li>\n<li>Plan and lead children\u2019s events such as holiday clubs, Light Parties, residentials, and community events.<\/li>\n<li>Build links with local schools, occasionally leading assemblies or hosting visits to the church.<\/li>\n<li>Explore opportunities for after-school and outreach activities, fostering relationships with families beyond the church.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Join the Team<\/h3>\n<p>This role offers the chance to join a supportive and prayerful staff team.
